The Lewis and Gaines Center for Inclusion and Equity (LGCIE) is an administrative department dedicated to providing services and programs that contribute to the success of intercultural students at Bridgewater State University. Through specialized programming, support, academic, social, wellness, and cultural events the department supports all BSU students in achieving their academic goals and enriching their cultural and social belonging experiences.LGCIE is seeking a Student Success and Belonging Coordinator.
Applicants who have utilized LGCIE's services, attended the events, and are interested in working in a diverse environment that provides student success initiatives, and promotes cultural awareness, wellness, and belonging, are encouraged to apply.
Position Summary
The role of the Student Success, Belonging, and Wellness Coordinator is to support programs and initiatives on belonging, and wellness designed to support intercultural student success through the Lewis and Gaines Center for Inclusion and Equity (LGCIE) at BSU. The Student Success, Belonging, and Wellness Coordinator is responsible for assisting with organizing student success initiatives, student outreach, promotion of well-being, and associated administrative tasks to track intercultural student engagement and success.Position Type
TemporaryEssential Duties
Student Success Initiatives- Assist in planning and coordinating programs focused on student cultural identity, well-being, community building, and academic success.
- Facilitate or co-facilitate student groups that promote student belonging, cross-cultural learning, awareness of mental health resources, and self-esteem building to assess their success or need for additional support.
- Compile data on event attendance, evaluations, and student feedback that can be tailored to track trends and support the success and retention of BSU students.
- Assist the marketing team in creating marketing materials for events and programs - flyers, social media & website posts, etc.
- Assist in promoting LGCIE to current, new, or prospective students
- Support the promotion of wellness campaigns and assist students struggling with stress, anxiety, inclusion, and belonging.
- Assist LGCIE staff in addressing students experiencing distress following university procedures.
- Submit related resources and events for the weekly newsletter "This week at LGCIE".
Required Qualifications
- A bachelor's degree or current enrollment in a graduate program at Bridgewater State University in psychology, social work, education, or higher education management.
- A basic understanding of academic support needs, inclusion, and mental health issues.
- Someone passionate about supporting the success and well-being of intercultural students, community building on campus, and mental health advocacy.
- Ability to work some evenings and weekends.
- Excellent oral and written communication skills.
- Organizational and time management skills.
- Ability to work independently as well as in a team setting.
- Previous involvement with multicultural students/centers in a college setting. Or statement on the desire to learn about serving intercultural students from an equity framework.
- Experience using Microsoft Office suite programs including Word, Excel, PowerPoint, forms, and Teams.
- Experience using social media platforms and marketing software such as Canva.
Preferred Qualifications
This position requires sitting/standing, interacting with various professional staff, and lifting items up to 15 pounds.Work Environment
