Communication Intern - Town of Truckee, CA ($21.51-$29.05/hr.)

Position Overview:

The Town of Truckee’s Community Engagement Division is excited to offer a unique internship opportunity for an individual passionate about communication and public relations. As a Communications Intern, you’ll play an integral role in supporting the Town’s outreach efforts, gaining hands-on experience in social media, community engagement, website management, newsletter creation, and multimedia content development.

Our Community Engagement Division oversees a variety of social media platforms and continuously seeks innovative ways to connect with the community. This role also includes opportunities to assist with media relations and public outreach campaigns, providing a well-rounded experience in the field of communications.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Create and manage content for platforms like Facebook, LinkedIn, YouTube, Instagram, and Vimeo.
  • Contribute to the development of newsletters, articles, videos, and podcasts that highlight the Town’s initiatives.
  • Support community outreach programs and assist in expanding engagement opportunities.
  • Collaborate with staff across multiple divisions to tell meaningful stories and promote the Town’s efforts.

Ideal Candidate:
We’re looking for a creative, detail-oriented individual with strong oral and written communication skills. Proficiency in spelling, grammar, and punctuation is essential, as is familiarity with social media platforms. Creativity and storytelling ability are highly valued in this role, as you’ll help shine a light on the Town’s initiatives and build connections with the community.

The ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with staff and community members will be key to your success in this role.

Details:
This internship is flexible, with an opportunity to work from 25 hours per week to 40 hours per week. Certain benefits may be available depending on the agreed-upon hours.
